When I first bought Brennan’s Fish House, people in the community were worried that things would change… the food, atmosphere, changes in general.
The first week we opened, an older gentleman came in and asked if I was going to remove the fishing net that hangs above the round dining table. I told him, “No sir, I want everything to stay just as it is.” He responded, “Good! I brought that net home from Europe after WWII and it has hung there ever since!” I assured him that it would be here forever, I’d keep it safe, and that I was grateful to have it. He seemed pleased, growled something at me, and then sat down for his lunch. I will never forget that day! It was one of the many encounters I I cherish over my time here as caretaker of this restaurant (and museum)!
