Hanging over the bar are our Captain’s hats. All of these were given to Brennan’s before my ownership, except for one.
The Fairport Harbor Coast Guard Station is just up the river from us and we’re fortunate enough to serve them here at Brennan’s. A few years ago, the Commander of the station retired. The very next day, he brought me his Captain’s hat and asked me if I would be willing to hang it up with our other hats. Of course I would! I asked him to put his information on a card and we put it into the brim of his hat. It was important for him to have his hat here so that his children and grandchildren would He told me that he wanted his hat here so that his children and grandchildren would be able to come here after he was gone to see his hat.
